The Mental Health Association in Butler County began in 1956 from the vision of Charles and Pam Grabe.

Starting with only volunteers, MHA continued to grow, making a significant impact to the Butler County community.  In 2016, MHA became a corporation under the umbrella of Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services, Inc. (“SPHS”), a comprehensive social service organization.

MHA began as an agency advocating for those with mental illness or intellectual disabilities and continues working within the community to further those efforts.
